Agent Mode in Word is designed to support a range of everyday document tasks. After you describe what you want to achieve, it can:

• Rewrite content – improve wording, adjust tone, or simplify complex sections
• Add new material – expand on a topic, insert examples, or create new sections
• Format your document – apply consistent styles, headings, and layout changes
• Make targeted edits – refine specific paragraphs, bullet lists, or sections you point out

This helps you reshape how you work in Word, moving from manual line-by-line edits to more goal-driven collaboration with Copilot.

Agent Mode in Word is currently available through Microsoft’s Frontier early access program. To try it:

1. Confirm you’re using Microsoft 365 with access to Copilot features.
2. Join or request access to the Frontier early access program, where Agent Mode in Word is being made available.
3. Once enabled, open Word, describe your goal to Copilot in Agent Mode, and let it begin editing and formatting your document directly.

As this is an early access experience, availability may be limited and may evolve over time as Microsoft continues to refine the feature.
